The P bass has little better playing finger sound. But the J bass has better slap sound. But” drop in an Aguilar pick up either she or pee base in a three Band Sadowski Preamp in it and you have a monster no matter which one it is. Just set your app Diles to 12 o’clock . And you’ve got preamp great sound adjustments on your base on the fly. The only way to go its worked for me.

Because of the genre, the J. It's clean, punchy and more articulate.

For this style of music the Ibanez kinda sucks. Both the Warwick and Fender sounded great.

Have to give this one to the Warwick!

J bass has better slap tone

As a bass player it’s personal choice. There’s no bad sound. It’s what’s needed for the music your playing. But I prefer the Fender.

Usually I'm a P bass guy, but the J sounds better here. Classic slap tone.

I think they all are. It's more of the music choice. I liked the Rock bass, although I play Ibanez and Fender. They are not playing the same notes, just a different part of the song. Take off those MK-1 and install the Customs.

Either will work in most contexts, so the winner’s the one you prefer. I’m a P bass player through and through. There’s a lot of Jazz bass players whose sound i love, but it doesn’t feel right coming from me. It’s not my voice.

Fender, you can put more sound to the mix. If you only do vocal, guitar/synth, drum, and bass only maybe the rockbass or ibanez

I feel like the changing instruments/retuning aspect is more relevant than how it was presented. If you’re in a genre where you don’t go that low except maybe once in a set sure, but most modern genres (not just heavy ones either) kinda need you to do that a lot, at least in my experience. The options of change the part or use an octave pedal are pretty major changes to the sound of the band that might not transfer well, and switching basses/retuning kinda prevents you from being a part of transitions in between songs and at worst creates the incredibly awkward “hold on guys don’t start yet I’m still tuning” stage moments. As a working bass player 5s just avoid problems imo, especially if you get a passive switch one for more genre versatility. Still have a 4 (with hipshot detuner 😈)for gigs where it’s older music because I don’t need the B and that way I can keep flatwounds on there permanently and not switch between flats and rounds all the time on my 5

IMHO I have to go with the corvette $$ for this particular song since it blends so well and especially that signature Warwick tone. But I’m a big fan of Pbass and that killer Ibanez. ❤️

The P!

The mic definitely sounds better, but most people don't realize that when using a Pre DI, you are bypassing the amp. You are basically getting the sound of the bass by itself.

I think I have to go with The Rockbass. It sits better in a modern mix, because it has a "fatter" tone and is more consistent. Fender has too many notes and frequencies that spark out making it sound very dated and inconsistent. Ibanez has a nasally midrange and lacks that bottom end of the Rockbass.
